Two possibilities:
Route 1 (in blue) for those in a hurry.
Route 2 (in violet) - the so called "route des Chateaux", a pleasant route which winds its way past many of the famous chateaux and vineyards of the Medoc. This will require a further 15 mins.
Route 1 (in blue)
From Bordeaux take exit 8 - direction "Le Verdon". At the Saint Laurent by-pass continue in the Pauillac direction. As you enter Pauillac at the cross-roads follow the direction "Les Quais".
This route takes you in a straight line along the Gironde, passing the port. Then after a left-hand bend take the first right marked ZI de Trompeloup. Go past the Zone Industrielle, the former Shell refinery and as you continue bordering the Gironde you will come across a typical landscape - that of the fishing shacks which project all along its bank. Finally at the end of this long straight road you enter the village of St Estèphe or rather its port. The road bends to the left and you take a right turn across the little bridge in the St Seurin direction. At St Seurin, drive up to the stop sign. Turn left. Go past the "Mairie", the "Paroisse" co-operative and our house is there on your right.
Route 2 (in violet)
This is the route of the châteaux ! A very beautiful route which will lead you past many of the loveliest residences in the Medoc. Even at night this route is beautiful because the châteaux are illuminated.
From Bordeaux take exit 7 - direction "Le Verdon". Turn right at the first junction - direction Pauillac. Follow the road - D2 - to St Seurin de Cadourne. After Pauillac, take extra care to remain on the D2 - especially 800 m after the château of Cos d'Estournel - the D2 turns to the right ! When you see the St Seurin sign you have arrived - it is the third house to the left.
If coming from the northern direction, you can take the Royan ferry-boat across the Gironde estuary.
Quick - route (orange):
On leaving the port of "Le Verdon" take the Bordeaux direction - the road N215 until Lesparre.
At Lesparre, at the first roundabout, take the Bordeaux direction opposite. Pass the traffic lights, then about 100 m later turn to the left on the D204 to St Trelody, Pauillac, then about 800 m further on turn again to the left on the D203 to St Seurin de Cadourne. There is a further 13 kms to do. At St Seurin, at the stop sign, take a right turn by the "La Paroisse" co-operative. Just after the latter, the house is on the right - n°6. Parking is provided opposite.
Tourist route (green):
As before, on leaving the port, take the Bordeaux direction - the N215. When you reach St Vivien turn left to join the D2. Opposite the church take the D103 and 50 m later the D2 on the left. Then the task is to remain on the D2. You will pass the "Richard" lighthouse, the port of Goulée, Valeyrac, the port of By, Saint Christoly, Saint Yzans, the port of the Maréchale, Cadourne and at last Saint Seurin de Cadourne.
At Saint Seurin remain on the D2 in the St Estèphe direction. Pass in front of the "La Paroisse" co-operative, our house is just after the latter on your right - n°6. Parking is provided opposite..
